Hi, I’m Martha, founder of Karas Design.

With over 25 years’ experience in architectural drafting and more than 15 years in interior design, I bring a strong technical understanding of how spaces are designed, documented and built.

​

I particularly love designing kitchens and bathrooms. They’re some of the hardest working rooms in a home, and when they’re designed well they can completely change how a space feels and functions. I’m proud to have received awards for my kitchen design work over the years.

​

No two homes are the same, and no two clients are the same either. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all design. The real benefit of working with an interior designer is creating a space that’s tailored specifically to you — how you live, how you move through your home, and what matters most to you and your family.

​

I also work with clients who have accessibility needs or changing mobility requirements. Thoughtful design can make everyday life easier and safer, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms, and when it’s done well it should feel seamless, not clinical.

​

Alongside my design practice, I also teach at Sydney Design School, which keeps me closely connected to the evolving design industry and the next generation of designers.

​

Being invited into someone’s home or workplace is a privilege. My goal is always to make the design process clear, thoughtful and enjoyable, while creating spaces that feel beautiful, personal and truly lived in.

And yes — I do love colour. Life’s too short for boring interiors.
